Shiseido is acquiring Bare Escentuals for $1.7 billion, reports WWD.

Japanese beauty titan Shiseido announced last week it would be launching a tender offer to buy uber-popular American brand Bare Escentuals, Inc., the pioneer of the mineral makeup movement. The tender offer is valued at an estimated $1.7 billion and involves Shiseido buying shares for $18.20 each, a 40.8 percent premium over Bare Escentuals’ average stock price during the last three months. Once the majority of stock is tendered, Shiseido said it would buy the remaining shares for the same price, $18.20, in a second-step merger. The Tokyo-based company plans to expand its product reach to include the mineral makeup line, therefore widening the Shiseido customer base in Asia.“This acquisition further enables Shiseido to move toward our goal of becoming a global player representing Asia, with its origins in Japan,” said Shinzo Maeda, President and CEO of Shiseido. “We have known and admired Bare Escentuals’ excellent team and their achievements for a long time, and look forward to their contribution to our combined group."
The acquisition will be operated as a separate division of Shiseido and its business will reportedly be managed by the current roster of executives, led by Leslie Blodgett, Bare Escentuals current CEO. Blodgett, who is expected to report to Tokyo headquarters, currently holds 6 percent of the firm and plans to trade 40 percent of her stake in exchange for an undisclosed interest in Shiseido.“I couldn’t be more pleased to be joining forces with the team at Shiseido...Together with Shiseido, we look forward to bringing our mineral-based beauty products to even more women worldwide,” Blodgett said. In addition to introducing the mineral makeup revolution, Bare Escentuals has also created a unique platform for itself through combining beauty supply chains such as Sephora and Ulta with a strong TV shopping component, a department store holding, and its own stand-alone boutiques. With the newfound exposure that Shiseido will afford, the Bare Escentuals beauty line may very well be the next best-selling global brand.

Simple DIY Photo Collage

I usually love making photobooks with vacation pictures but this time I thought I would try something new. Between the 3 cameras we took along on the Bermuda trip we had 73824930 pictures... so I asked myself "what's a better way to showcase some of my favorite pictures than with a photo collage?".

Materials:
Scissors
Oak Tag or a large sheet of paper
Double Sided Tape
Frame
Mini Moo Cards

It was super simple and literally took me less than 1 hour to complete. The only task that was tedious was uploading the pictures and then cropping them.

I think these would also make great gifts as well!! The great thing about them is the fact that they are very versatile and you can virtually make the collage any size you want to.

Ann Taylor... Is that you??

I have to admit I haven't always been the biggest fan of Ann Taylor. I was under the impression that their clothes were more appropriate for my mom but it seems like they are changing things up a bit. The Fall collection looks much more youthful and I'm guessing it's geared towards the younger crowd.

Metallic Pleat Neck Shell

Perfect Tweed Platform Pump

Wool Short Peacoat, Ruffle Pintuck Top, Modern Midnight Boot Cut Jeans, Fiona High Heel Boot

Lace Print Luxe Scarf

Silk Taffeta Strapless Dress

Cold & Dreary in NY

The weather has been awful in New York City (and will be awful throughout the weekend)!
It's only October but it's only 44 F right now. BrrrrrRR I know I said I was looking forward to Fall but it feels like we transition from Summer straight into the Winter.
Came home and found Hana snuggling in her bed and she hops right under my covers at night too.
Hana says "Stop taking pictures of me mommy!!"

I decided to take advantage of the Saks Friends & Family sale and ordered myself a pair of Hunter Boots and Welly Socks. It's a pretty sweet deal. 25% off & Free Shipping

Now I can go splash around in the rain puddles. =)via

Hope the weather is better wherever you are!!

Lush Bath Bombs Wedding Favors Yay or Nay?

Let's be realistic for most of the weddings I've attended the wedding favors were really lack luster and useless. =X So I was slightly intrigued when I saw that Lush Cosmetics created two limited edition Bath Bombs for wedding favors. I personally have not tried these products but I know many bloggers have tried Lush products. What do you think? Would you consider these Bath Bombs as wedding favors?
  • 50-99 bath bombs - $2.95 per bomb (regular price $3.95)
  • 100-299 bath bombs - 35% off
  • 300 – 500 bath bombs - 40% off

Random Stuff

Too Faced Cosmetics is having a Vintage Vault sale from October 13 - 25, 2009

Thank you to the The Beauty Girls & Tarte Cosmetics for sending me these goodies!
I've been busy so I didn't get a chance to test the products out yet...

Stopped by Westfield Plaza last week, mainly because I had several gift cards I wanted to use up.

I finally picked out the jeans I wanted with the Gap Gift Card I won from the Peacock Feathers "Born To Fit" Denim giveaway. Many thanks to Elizabeth again! I choose the destructed pair in Always Skinny and I love the jeans. My cousin brought 2 outfits for Hana, which is perfect because it's really starting to get chilly in NYC.
There was also a Westfield Style Tour going on in the mall, if you spend $100 you get a free goody bag and have a opportunity to take a picture with Tim Gunn.
I also had a gift card from Macys as well as a coupon from Clinique - Free Full size Makeup Remover with any purchase. Since Clinique also had a adorable GWP and I ran out of eye cream, I picked up a new bottle of "All About Eyes".

I'm constantly searching for the perfect eye cream.. anyone have any suggestion??!!

Awards and L's Birthday Dinner Pics

Thank you Kalai & Miss K. You for this sweet award!!I'm not sure if these are interesting facts but here goes nothing...

1. My least favorite subject in Nursing School was Community Health Nursing - maybe it was all the home visits to the "projects" and parts of towns that I would never otherwise step foot in that traumatized me. Each morning I would wake up at the crack of dawn and hop onto the train to get to where I needed to go. I was so sure I was going to get robbed or worse. It was not a good experience. I assure you that I much rather go to Psych Clinicals and spend the day in the Psych ward.

2. I have a younger sister but everyone always thinks I'm the younger one.

3. I enjoy watching silly reality shows like "Real Housewives", "Real World/Road Rule Challenges", "The Hills". The BF always mocks me for watching..

4. My favorite drinks at Starbucks are Passion Fruit Lemonade & Soy Chai Latte.

5. I was always a "no pet" person and it was my sister who wanted a puppy. One day we passed by the pet store on the way home and I fell in love with the fur baby in the window *Hana! That's how I became a shih tzu mommy.

6. I have a scar under my chin and I have no idea how it get there... I've asked my mom and she has no idea either.

I want to say "Thank you" to the adorable Miss K. You for this awesome award!! =)
